Night Night comprises of three series of works made between 2002 and 2005; some of which were exhibited in my exhibition Great Expectations (2004) at the AYACS gallery in Amsterdam. If they could be grouped under a single theme it probably would be their relation to night and dreams.
These are dreams of buildings; of houses at twilight or in the night with sometimes brightly lit windows that appear cold from the outside. They are inaccessible places with neither entry nor exit. Yet they aren't nightmares - they just are. Standing, like silent spectators, waiting for something to happen.
A second and third series concentrates on anatomical wax models and botanical drawings I found in books. The wax models in particular fascinated me. Originally intended as educational tools, these wax models stand on their own as works of great sculptural beauty. They have a dream-like, nearly surreal quality to them which I have tried to capture in this series.
